About 10 studios and a number of freelance artists from across the world have collaborated with Chennai based visual effects studio Indian Artists Computer Graphics Pvt. Ltd for the Rajinikanth starrer VFX magnum opus ‘Endhiran - The Robot‘ that released on October 1st, 2010 all over India. The film has got 2 awards in Star screen Awards, one in Best Special Effects category and other one is "Special Jury Award for Spectacular cutting of Age Technology".
V. Srinivas M Mohan had donned the dual role of being the VFX Supervisor for the entire film supervising the work of the other studios involved and also as the VFX Head at Indian Artists, being on the main studios that did about 80% of the work. He went to USA to receive "William & Mary Global Film Award for Special Achievement in Global Production".
AnimationXpress.com spoke to Srinivas Mohan, VFX Supervisor of Robot, he says, "I‘m very happy and excited to be here. The award ceremony happened on Feb 17th and they also invited main crew members of "Endhiran". The crew was excited to be a part of it". The film also got "The Global Indian Film & TV Honour" (GIFTH) in Best Special Effects category.
Apart from collecting accolades for VFX the film has also been nominated in "Fashion Asia 2010" in the category of "Asian Top Fashionable Movie of The Year". Robot is gathering lots of awards and nominations. William & Mary Global Film Festival host the Global Film Festival to celebrate and foster a better understanding of film‘s place within the world.
The festival takes place annually in February and brings world cultures to Williamsburg, through film. Local audiences of students, faculty, and other community members consider each festival‘s chosen theme through the pre-festival series of five films, which are introduced by William and Mary faculty. The festival itself is a four-day event featuring screenings of international and student-produced films, live performances, presentations, guest filmmakers, and receptions.
Enthiran was presented at the William & Mary Global Film Festival by its Executive Producer, Jack Rajasekar. Srinivas Mohan is currently working on "Nanban" Directed by Shankar.
